Golden Spatula Open Tournament
Building a scalable & resilient esports tournament ecosystem across on-ground, online, and re-broadcast formats, this project was executed as an integrated system — combining tournament operations, broadcast production, graphics systems, and audience experience into one cohesive pipeline.
More Than a Tournament — A System Designed to Adapt
The Golden Spatula Open Tournament was more than a competitive event — it was a system that needed to perform under constantly shifting conditions.
This project was designed to operate across multiple formats and conditions.
Rather than treating each event as a standalone production, all components were developed as part of a unified system that could adapt while maintaining consistency in delivery.
Designing Before Building
Key elements of the tournament were developed through 3D visualization and system planning before execution — allowing alignment across stage design, broadcast setup, and audience flow.
How the Tournament System Was Built
Step 01 — Planning & System Design
The project began with defining tournament structure, format, and execution flow — including layout design, match systems, and production planning.
Step 02 — Production Setup
Production was prepared across multiple layers — broadcast systems, graphics, and on-ground execution — all aligned under a single operational pipeline.
Step 03 — Live Execution
The tournament was executed across on-ground, online, and re-broadcast formats, requiring real-time coordination across all production components.
Step 04 — Audience & Engagement
Audience experience was amplified through KOL engagement, cosplayer activations, and interactive zones — extending the tournament beyond gameplay into a full on-ground experience.
Step 05 — Iteration & Continuity
Each iteration contributed insights for improvement, allowing the system to evolve while maintaining consistency across executions.
Real-time Tournament Platform & Audience Flow Management
A custom-built platform was developed to support walk-in tournament participation — handling registration, queue flow, scoring, and real-time leaderboard synchronization across on-ground systems and main stage displays.
- Walk-in registration and queue management
- Real-time scoring and ranking system
- Live leaderboard integration with stage display
- Backend dashboard for tournament operators
- Designed for high-traffic, real-time environments
Delivering Consistency Under Complexity
Despite tight timelines and evolving conditions, the system enabled stable execution across multiple formats through integrated planning and real-time coordination.
A Repeatable Esports Production System
More than a one-time event, this project established a scalable system that can be adapted for future tournaments and formats.
